Wales opened up their Six Nations campaign with a vital victory over their Irish counterparts at Thomond Park on Saturday night.
Playing against the elements in the first half, Wales secured a 10-6 half time lead thanks to a breakaway try from Claire Flowers, converted by Awen Thomas who also added a penalty.
Rachel Reid kicked all the Irish points as the Welsh defence stood firm despite an onslaught from the impressive Irish pack.
The Welsh backline put together a credible performance with full back Naomi Thomas a clear player of the match.
The Welsh now face France at Bridgend RFC on Friday February 15th, kick off 7:15pm.
