It’s Free 2 Travel With The Scarlets

Llanelli fans will travel for free when Scott Quinnell’s Scarlets take on reigning champions Leicester Tigers in the Heineken Cup semi-final at Nottingham Forest football ground on Sunday 28 April (Kick-off: 3.00pm). Quinnell’s side face their second European semi-final in three years and, just like their trip to Reading against Northampton in 2000 when the Scarlet travelling army numbered up to the 8,000 mark, Llanelli will provide free travel to everyone purchasing a ticket through the club.
Tickets go on sale on Monday 25 February to season ticket holders and the following week, if any tickets are left from the Scarlets 12,000 allocation, tickets will be open to the general public with no limit set on the numbers purchased.
Fans, public houses, businesses or organisations purchasing a minimum of 45 tickets will be allocated a free coach, courtesy of Llanelli RFC and sponsors 2 Travel, and those who buy tickets individually will be directed to pick up points where they can take advantage of the free service.
Groups who wish to arrange their own transport will also be reimbursed by the club to the value of a 2 Travel coach, although this must first be cleared by Llanelli RFC finance manager Mr Colin Stroud.
“You can’t underestimate how important the Llanelli fans are to how the team performs,” said Llanelli and Wales captain Scott Quinnell.
“If they come down in their numbers and get behind us like they have done in the past it will be a major boost for the side.
“There is nothing better than looking up from the pitch to a sea of red, singing and urging you on and that doesn’t change whether you are home, away or at a neutral venue.
“This match ranks up there with some of the biggest games in the club’s history and it seems only right that the club does its bit to ensure that everyone of our loyal supporters can be there to see it.”
The ticket hotline number is 0871 871 8088, non-season ticket holders should
call from Wednesday 27 February (9.30am-4.30pm Mon-Fri) and will be offered a voucher for free travel at the point of purchase.
Llanelli have also teamed up with main sponsors Tetley’s to create a Stradey
Park Tetley Rugby Village at a venue near the Nottingham Forest Ground. The Village will contain Choirs, Bands, Karaoke, Food and Beverage Bars and will be open to all Llanelli fans providing the perfect place to meet up, eat, drink and be merry before kick-off.
“This is the second time in three years that our fans have been asked to travel for a match of this magnitude and we want to make sure they are able to,” added Llanelli commercial manager Ross Davies.
“We want to give them something back in return for their loyal support, but we also realise the boost they give to the team is invaluable.
“The Stradey Park Tetley Rugby Village should add to the experience of the day and make our second European semi-final in three years a day to remember.
