Spain 20 Wales 0
From the outset Spain put Wales under pressure and within the first five minutes had driven the ball over the line for a try.
Wales made a couple of good runs with Rhian Wilmott making ground at Fly Half but Wales failed to take advantage of their possession, not helped by the poor weather conditions.
The strong Spanish forwards scrumaged effectively and dominated in the lineout. Wales were repeatedly unsuccessful at delivering clean ball from the scrum and when they did, poor hands and good tackling from Spain limited their options.
Fly Half, Rhian Wilmott made a number of intelligent passes to captain Melissa Berry but Wales did not exploit their opportunities.
The half time score was 5-0. Wales started the second half much the same as the first with Spain in their 22 almost immediately. From the scrumage, Cath Walkley passed the ball back to Rhian Wilmott who attempted to kick it to touch, however the ball was chased down and Spain scored an easy try in the corner bringing the score to 10-0.
Scrum half, Cath Walkley replaced Kerry Jenkins at half time and attempted to pick up the tempo of the game. Awen Thomas replaced Rhian Wilmott at Fly Half.
Wales did not leave their half for the majority of the second half and with 60 minutes played Spain tried driving the ball over the line again. Wales managed to hold the ball up but the second time Spain made certain. The conversion was missed again, bringing the score to 15-0.
Full Back, Naomi Thomas made a fine last-man tackle to deny the Spanish further points but with five minutes remaining the Spanish winger ran in a try following constant pressure within the Welsh 22. Wales had a chance to score in the dying minutes but poor passing between the backs wasted the opportunity. The Full time score was 20-0.
