Bridgend Defeated By Glasgow In League Clash

Bridgend saw their hopes for a place in next season’s Heineken Cup slip further through their fingers last night when they went down 21-16 to Glasgow in the Welsh Scottish League clash.
The defeat means the Ravens remain at eighth place in the League table and with one game in hand, there is every chance Glasgow could surpass Bridgend if they are successful in their remaining six games.
Glasgow’s victory brought an end to their jinx with Bridgend – it is the first time they have ever beaten them since their induction to the League three years ago.
Bridgend set the ball rolling with a penalty from fly-half Craig Warlow and a perfectly placed drop goal moments later.
But Glasgow were spurred into action with a try initiated by scrum-half Graeme Beveridge and expertly finished by full-back Glenn Metcalfe.
Glasgow fly-half Graeme Kiddie failed to convert but made ammends with a penalty to put the homeside ahead.
Warlow answered back with his second drop goal, but the Ravens’ lead was shortlived as their defence failed to prevent centre Andy Henderson from touching down for Glasgow’s second try, which was converted by Kiddie.
Glasgow launched themselves into the second half with a six-point lead but it did not last as Bridgend’s star player Dafydd James crossed the touchline for a try which was again converted by Warlow.
Kiddie snatched the lead back with a penalty and another by substitute Calvin Howarth secured the Warriors’ victory.
