Proctor Wings In For Llanelli

Proctor Wings In For Llanelli

Gareth Jenkins has made five changes, one positional, to the side that beat Bridgend in the quarter finals to face Ebbw Vale in the Principality Cup semis at the Millennium Stadium this afternoon (Saturday 13 April Kick-off:
3.00pm).
The Llanelli director of rugby, who takes the Scarlets into their 23rd semi-final out of a possible 31 in the competition, has brought veteran Wales wing Wayne Proctor back to the side, Dwayne Peel to scrum-half, Simon Easterby into the back row and Luke Gross in at lock.
Neil Boobyer moves to the bench in favour of Salesi Finau, who gives up his wing berth to Proctor to partner Leigh Davies at centre.
Gross and Easterby join the forwards in a straight swop with Chris Wyatt and Dafydd Jones, who revert to the bench, and Peel is preferred to Guy Easterby at scrum-half.
Jenkins is preparing his side for a Heineken Cup semi final meeting with
European champions Leicester Tigers in a fortnight’s time. That trophy would be the jewel in the crown but he holds the Principality Cup, which the Scarlets have won a record 11 times, in equally high esteem.
“This is a big week for this club and we hold the Principality Cup trophy in
high regard,” said Jenkins.
“We have three games in seven days, I have picked a team for the first one and we are going to take it one step at a time.
“The doubleheaders at Millennium Stadium have always been tremendous
occasions and I hope we can rise to the challenge and maintain momentum with a win.”
