Jonah expressed his delight in being invited to play once again for Barbarians and commented,
“When ever I get asked to play for the Barbarians I consider it a privilege and accept to play at every opportunity. It also gives me a chance to visit my favourite part of the World, where I also receive a great deal of support from the fans, which makes it extra special. At the moment I’m concentrating 100% to help the Hurricanes make the Super 12 top four.”
For this year’s tour, it is the intention of the Barbarian Club to establish a truly international squad with experienced players from all the major nations. Further players who have agreed to represent the Barbarians are the former French captain Abetiliff Benazzi (FR), Christian Cullen (NZ), Trevor Leota (WS), Christian Califano (FR) and Matt Perry (E).
The Barbarian squad for the Prudential Tour now totals 489 international caps and will comprise of the following players:
