Barbarians Land English Trio
Micky Steele-Bodger, President of the Barbarians, commented, “Jason was a great Barbarian tourist when he played in the unbeaten end of season tour in 2000 against Ireland, Scotland and the Premiership Champions – Leicester at Twickenham. His wealth of international experience for the British Lions and England will undoubtedly be utilised to its best potential on the Barbarians tour.”
He further added, “When possible, the Barbarians would include an uncapped player against international opposition. In this year’s squad we have picked the versatile Saracens second row, cum back row player, Kieran Roche.”
The 22 year old, first made his club debut for Saracens against Leicester in 1998-1999, where he came on as a substitute to mark the formidable England, 1997 and 2001 Lions captain Martin Johnson. Kieran stands at 6ft 7″ and was formerly a basketball player and his strength, power and handling skills have enabled him to play in all three back row positions this year. He has also represented England at many levels including England U19, England Students, England 7’s and England U21.
