Moore- ‘pontypridd Can Win The Parker Pen Shield’.
Neath scrum half Andy Moore talks to wru.co.uk before tonights Welsh/Scottish League battle against PARKER PEN SHEILD finalists Pontypridd.
“Ponty are a very very good side,” said Moore, speaking before Neath’s Welsh/Scottish league match up with the PARKER PEN SHIELD finalists.
“Pontypridd have a great deal of spirit in their side and that’s shown through in their performances of late. Pontypridd played very well against London Irish – they showed great heart and were very impressive up front,” he added.
Players like Robert Sidoli and Mefin Davies have caught the eye this season, and a trip to Oxford’s Kassam Stadium for the Shield final in three weeks will again put them in the international shop window.
When asked if Ponty can win the big match Moore had no hesitation in backing the valley commandos.
“Yes they can. I think they need to be made firm underdogs again, that’s when Pontypridd perform best.”
And Moore knows a thing or two about European rugby – he was a member of the Cardiff side narrowly beaten in extra time by Toulouse in the inaugural Heineken Cup final in 1996.
