And Cardiff coach, former Wales captain Dai Young, has named himself amongst the replacements for the big match.

“This is going to be a big test of where we are on the European stage. We still have a lot of things to work on but we are playing the sort of rugby that will help us compete against most teams.

“We play Biarritz at home and then go to Ulster and we know we have to step up a few rungs on the ladder if we are going to compete with the likes of Biarritz,” said Young.

“We have a young team that is still developing and gaining experience and, hopefully, the only way for us will be up.”

Cardiff make five changes from the side that beat Bridgend. Jamie Robinson, Matt Allen and Iestyn Harris return to a back-line that includes Rhys Williams, and Craig Morgan.

Peter Rogers will play at loose-head, and in a positional switch Nack Walne moves back to the wing from outside centre.

Cardiff: Rhys Williams; Nick Walne, Jamie Robinson, Matt Allen, Craig Morgan; Iestyn Harris, Ryan Powell; Peter Rogers, Andrew Lewis, Ken Fourie, Heino Senekal, John Tait, Rob Appleyard, Dan Baugh, Martyn Willaims (captain)

Replacements:
David Young, Greg Woods, Adam Jones, Dan McShane, Richard Smith, Nicky Robinson, Anthony Sullivan.
