The Wales veteran said, “This side is for the future, it’s a very exciting prospect.
‘Wales have got the youngest team in the championship by a mile. I’m a decade older than most of the side.”
Humphreys, 34, had been in the international wilderness before Steve Hansen saw a role for him in the England Test, handing him the responsibly of captaincy, and the Bath front row forward is taking the opportunity to hand out some advice to the younger members of the team.
‘We’ve got to be looking past the Six Nations to the next one when this year’s side will be more experienced and in with a chance of winning it. And I believe this side could do it.
‘A win against Scotland would be fantastic, not just for the championship but for the self belief of the side.
‘They can grow together, but a bit of patience all round is needed,” he told the South Wales Argus.
Humphreys suffered a shoulder strain in Baths’ 30-9 victory over Saracens in the Zurich Premiership last weekend, and although the injury is not deemed serious, he will undergo a fitness test to determine his availability for selection.
Hansen names his squad on Thursday March 6.
