Evans, aged 30, began with his twin brother Deiniol in the Llanelli three-quarters, but while his brother moved on to Carmarthen Quins, Garan continued with the club and scored his 100th try for them in the match against Glasgow in October. To date he has scored 113 tries in 249 matches.

The 250th game ensures that he will receive a players life membership of the club – becoming the 27th to currently hold that honour, the last having been scrum half Rupert Moon, while the list includes current coaches Gareth Jenkins and Nigel Davies.

“It’s a great milestone for Garan , it means he is a life member and now has the pleasure of walking throught he doors at Stradey Park for free for the rest of his life,” joked Llanelli coach Gareth Jenkins.

“But in all seriousness it is a great achievement, and it couldn’t happen to a nicer guy.”

Those still living who played 250 or more matches are: – Tony Croker, Phil Bennett, Alun Davies, Nigel Davies, Phil Davies, Simon Davies, Laurance Delaney, Ray Gravell, Byron Gale, Norman Gale, Sean Gale, Martin Gravelle, Andy Hill, Alan James.Gareth Jenkins, Hefin Jenkins, Phil May, Rupert Moon, Marlston Morgan, Peter Morgan, David Nicholas, Derek Quinnell, Charles Thomas, Delme Thomas, Dennis Thomas and Selwyn Williams
