Newport Change Nine

Newport have made nine changes from the team which earned a place in the Principality Cup final on Saturday for their “dress rehearsal” against Llanelli at Rodney Parade on Tuesday night (kick-off 7.30pm).
Semi-final hero Percy Montgomery, who scored all 27 points for his team in their 27-23 victory over Bridgend at the Millennium Stadium, is retained at fullback, while Alex Cadwallader, Jason Jones-Hughes and Ofisa Tonu’u also survive behind the scrum.
Wales Under-21 Scott Williams and Nathan Brew come into the three-quarter line and Jason Strange takes over from Shane Howarth at outside-half.
It’s all change in the frontrow, where David Pattison, James Richards and Wales Under-21 Rhys Thomas pack down, while Matthew Veater joins Simon Raiwalui in the secondrow.
Andy Powell and Gareth Gravell come into the backrow, while former Wales centre Andy Marinos appears among the replacements.
Marinos has now recovered from an operation on his foot, and along with Wales A wing Ben Breeze, has played for Newport Under-21 as a first step towards a return to first-team action.
“We’re delighted to have Andy and Ben back in the running for selection and they will definitely get time on the field in our two games this week against Llanelli and Cardiff,” said Newport team manager Jim McCreedy.
“We’ve had to make changes from our semi-final lineup because of some niggling injuries but we still feel we’ve got a competitive side for what will be our penultimate home game of the season.”
As well as travelling to Cardiff on Friday night, Newport also have to go to Pontypridd, Swansea and Neath before the season ends. Their final Welsh Premiership at home will be against Ebbw Vale.
Llanelli are due to name their squad after training on Tuesday morning. They have injury doubts over scrum-halves Dwayne Peel and Guy Easterby, hooker Robin McBryde, lock Chris Wyatt and wing Mark Jones.
