Aberavon moved back to the top of Lloyds TSB Division One with a 45-19 victory over Tredegar, if Pontypool beat Rumney today, it should be the winner takes it all at the Talbot Athletic Field in midweek. Aberavon’s defeat to Pontypool could leave them a mathematical, but unrealistic chance, of winning and scoring a huge amount of tries at Blackwood on Saturday, May 17.

Also in Division One this Saturday, Carmarthen Quins face a tough match home to Narberth, while fourth-placed Llandovery go to Bonymaen with Gareth Jones, a former Bonymaen player, at fly half having just completed 300 points for the season.

Llanharan against Newbridge and Blackwood against Cross Keys should be stern affairs with Keys looking for a top seven finish and Whitland’s home match at Tondu is a key game for the Borderers.

Treorchy come to the end of a long season by looking for only their second win as they entertain Glamorgan Wanderers and Bedwas meet a plucky Beddau outfit.

In Division Two, Carmarthen Athletic could take the title by winning at Corus (Port Talbot) and Llangennech seem to have lost it. They travel to meet bottom club Hirwaun. Maesteg’s win at Llangennech on Tuesday by 29-21 puts them in line for third place and they go to Merthyr in good shape, while UWIC face a huge match home to Llantwit Fardre and Rhymney hope to jump over their opponents Cwmavon.

Three (West) winners Felinfoel can ease off with a match at Tonmawr, who lost 13-3 away to Aberavon Quins in midweek, while Three (East) leaders Penygraig entertain Ynysybwl, as Ystrad Rhondda go to Fleur de Lys.

Llanhilleth’s home match with Blaengarw in Four (East) will be at Abertillery Park and in Four (West), Pontyberem need only a draw at home to Kidwelly to be champions.

Newport Saracens are the first Gwent side to win a title after wins this week over Tredegar Ironsides and St Peter’s. They play at home to runners-up Brynithel in Five (East) and in Five (West) there are key matches at Lampeter, Laugharne and Llandeilo where Ammanford, Gowerton and Llandybie are the visitors, though a Llandeilo win could give them the title.

Nantymoel, winners of Five (Central) go to runners-up Banwen and there are run-outs for other title winners – Cwmgors (Six West), Cwmgwrach (Seven Central) and Cefneithin (Seven West), while Llandaff North close in on the Seven (East) title in a match home to Trinant.
