Bridgend beat Cardiff’s young stars easily with a 23-point victory in the Welsh Premiership.
The Ravens now need just one more victory to seal league success, and that could come when they play second placed Neath on Tuesday night.
The home side outscored their visitors by four tries to two with Shawn van Rensburg scoring twice.
The Wales hopeful – who is eligible to play for the international side having resided in Wales for three years – will have done his cause no harm with the brace.
His obvious strength and ability to control the ball at the back of the scrum was critical as the Bridgend eight wore down Cardiff.
The away side took the lead with a Pieter Muller try after a good break from Nicky Robinson.
But that score was against the run of play, and Bridgend composed themselves, and proceeded to score 17 unanswered points to go into the half-time interval with a 10-point advantage.
The match was effectively over as a contest when just fifteen-seconds into the second period, when Cardiff lock Chris Stamatakis was dismissed for a dangerous tackle on Bridgend’s Gareth Cull.
Bridgend ran away with the match, and after last week’s disappointing win, the ravens will relish the opportunity of sealing the title against the team that spoiled their perfect season.
