John was cited by the WRU for his actions during the game and the punishment was determined at a disciplinary hearing in Cardiff.

The six match ban will start on 1 August and the £500 fine is payable within 28 days. In addition, the WRU disciplinary panel decided to impose a further £500 fine which will be suspended until the end of the 2003/2004 season, dependent upon the player not receiving a red card.
