Wayne Proctor of Llanelli has closed a career, retiring with a tally of 116, but now Woodard has shot up to 99, two clear of Maesteg forward Karl Hocking.
Woodard, the Croesyceiliog youngster who studied at UWIC, but never played rugby there, was with Ebbw Vale four years ago when he was selected for the Wales tour of Zimbabwe and South Africa.
He opened his tour by playing against the Emerging Springboks and scored a try against Guateng Falcons, but failed to make the test side.
Since then he starred with Pontypridd and then joined Pontypool, notching 30 tries in season 2001-02 and then an astonishing 39 tries last season. He helped Pooler to the Division One title with 18 tries in the last five matches – six against Glamorgan Wanderers, seven against Treorchy, one each against Beddau and Rumney and a hat-trick to lift the title at Abravon.
He played rugby in the summer for the all-conquering Bridgend squad and has joined Aberavon, the very team he helped take the title from last season. Histry on Saturday at Llandovery leaves him requiring one tomorrow evening at home against Swansea.
Lenny last met Swansea when Pooler knocked the All-Whites out of the Principality Cup two years ago and coach Chris O’Callaghan has confirmed that he will start in jersey 14 with former Wales Under-21 cap Nick Jones likely to be the man directly against him.
