Unbeaten clubs – (East) Merthyr, Hirwaun and Fleur de Lys. (West) Corus (PT).

Of these four clubs, only Merthyr and Corus have played three, won three, as Hirwaun were held 15-all by Risca on Saturday, following two previous wins and Fleur de Lys opened their season late with a 47-10 win at Croesyceliog, who appear to be suddenly struggling to field a strong side.

Pencoed gained a fine 30-12 win over Bridgend Athletic with full back Gareth David landing five penalties, a dropped goal and a conversion.

Aberavon Quins had their first win by 32-9 over Newcastle Emlyn, for whom the former Wales hooker and captain Kevin Phillips is back as a flanker, following a bite from a cow on his farm that had earlier kept him out.

Abertillery returned to action from the brink of folding, but lost 64-6 at home when Llantwit Fardre ran in 10 tries with Abertillery only having a penalty goal in each half to show for their efforts.

Abercynon won 28-17 at Llantrisant with tries by Chris King, Geraint Turner and Ian Withey and Rob Lloyd (3) and Jamie Brown (2) kicked penalties to see Builth Wells to a 31-10 win over Ystrad Rhondda, while Merthyr scored tries by David Davies, lan Bevan, Gareth Williams, Craig Cleaver and Jason Price in defeating Rhymney.

Corus just beat off a good Cwmllynfell effort by 20-12 and Dunvant are re-emerging after winning 35-23 at Waunarlwydd.
