Statement From David Moffett

Statement From David Moffett

‘It is true that Glanmor Griffiths, the former chairman of Millennium Stadium plc, and I had exploratory discussions with a group of people who initially expressed an interest in purchasing the stadium for a ridiculously small amount of money and ended up talking to us about forming a partnership in respect of the future running of the stadium.

‘In the end, Glanmor and I determined they had little to offer and have therefore not taken the matter any further. We have told the group we aren’t going to pursue their offer of a partnership.

‘Any suggestion that any group has tabled a formal bid of £170m to buy the Millennium Stadium is ridiculous. The stadium is not for sale by the WRU, who continue to work with our partners Barclays Bank and BT to reduce the

stadium’s outstanding debt of £60m.
‘Both Barclays and BT have been extremely supportive through difficult times. Finally, if JJ Williams, or anyone else for that matter, has a genuine offer to make for £170m to the WRU then maybe they could let me know.’
