254 And Counting…

If experience wins World Cups, Wales should be odds-on favourites to return from Australia with the William Webb Ellis trophy.
The official Cup website, www.rugby2003.com.au, lists fly-half Stephen Jones as one of his country’s key players, and suggests the Llanelli goal-kicker has been around a while.

“With the recent departure of long-time fly-half and goal-kicking whiz Neil Jenkins, Wales were in a spin searching for a replacement points scorer,” the website tells us.

“They seem to have found it in 254-year-old Jones.”

Jones, aka The Count is in fact, 25. Although he does turn 26 in December.

The website goes on to teach us a bit of Welsh: “Jones has been in outstanding form for his club recently, helping Llanelli (pronounced “Fla-nef-elly”) reach the semi-finals of the Heineken Cup in 2002.”
