The high school services the Western Creek area, which was the hardest hit during the January bushfires. Every student and staff member was effected directly or indirectly by the firestorm.

“Canberra has welcomed Wales with open arms during our stay here and the team is very keen to repay the hospitality,” said team manager Alan Phillips.

“The bushfires may have been nine months ago but we know the memories are still fresh. We’re delighted to be able to help the kids, even in a small way.”

Wales will play Italy at Canberra Stadium on October 25 to determine which team progresses to the quarter-final of the Rugby World Cup.

Skills coach Scott Johnson and players will visit the school on Thursday and involve players from the Royals Club. The British High Commission and ACT Government Bushfire Recovery Taskforce are helping to organise the visit.
