Colywn Bay RFC, 2.30pm

North Wales, lead by Wales U16 fullback Mared Evans of Caernarfon got off to an impressive start with the forward pack running strongly and providing quick ruck ball for the outside backs. The first try was scored by Welsh U16 centre Ceri Redman (Bala) and was converted by Evans.

Evans retrieved a kick from the East on her half way and weaved through the chasing players to score, which she again converted. The North forward pack dominated in the open with impressive performances coming from hooker Stephanie Davies (Caernarfon) and losehead prop Isabella Jones (Nant Conwy).

Scrum half Margiad Ifan (Nant Conwy) gave excellent service to fly-half Dyddgu Hywel (Nant Conwy) who displayed a full range of skills. Rachel Roberts (Nant Conwy) captalised with an excellent try on 20 minutes.

The East, lead well by scrum half Carly Tutton of Cwmbran threatened the North try line and an excellent display of kicking by fly half Sophie Davies (Caerphilly) kept the East on the attack. Just prior to the break Lowri Evans (Ysgol Ardwdwy & Dolgellau) outpaced the East defenders to score. The half-time score was North Wales 34 – East Wales 0.

A much improved East Wales put pressure on the North early in the second half with excellent play by hooker Gemma Jones (Caerphilly) and great work in the forwards by second row Holly Kersey of Cwmbran. The North again took control with great work by openside flanker Sara Wyn Jones (Nant Conwy) and Eleni Smith (Ysgol Argoed & Widnes). Two more scores by Redman gave her a hat trick and a well deserved try for No 10 Hywel. The East again went into defensive mode and full back Zoe Havelot of Cwmbran made several try saving tackles. The North’s final try came from reserve winger Manon Celyn (Bala) to give a 54 – 0 victory to North Wales.
