The draw for the third round of the WRU Challenge Cup has paired Abercarn with Dunvant and the Dunvant team manager Peter Thomas was not sure what to make of it, but said: “We certainly won’t be saying that the bus will cost too much and pull out as some clubs have done.

“Buses tend to cost as much to Port Talbot as to Cross Keys or Abercarn and that is how we will travel there. It’s new ground for us. In fact, we’ve passed through there to play Premier and Division One rugby in the past!

“We are running into form, but will respect what is unknown opposition to us. All our players come from around about a ten-mile radius of the club and this will be our longest trip this season.

“I cannot recall us ever meeting Abercarn at home or away, so it will nice to take a break from league rugby and we will treating them with respect.”

Dunvant currently top the Division Two West table with five wins from six matches, along with Corus and Bridgend Athletic, while Abercran have won two and lost three matches in Division Three East, qualifying for this round after a nail-biting extra time win by 32-24 at Crymych.
