The Old Parish are unbeaten this season in league rugby and have already added Llangennech to their scalps, winning 25-9 in September, but Maesteg press officer Dennis Thomas realises that this will be a hard tie.

“We won in the second match of the season,” said Thomas. “But we have Llanharan on Tuesday in the league and that will be a tough one. We also have the go-ahead to upgrade our floodlights.”

Rumney coach Shaun Lee found that his young side were drawn at home to Brynmawr, also a Division One club. “Actually, we play them next week in the league at their ground, but its just another game that my players need to get under their belts.

“It is experience we need and we have had former Wales and Lions prop Charlie Faulkner in to help with forward training. He was tremendous and I’m glad to say that he is willing to return to help us, for which we are grateful.”

Of the five remaining non-league clubs, Beafort, Girlings and Glyncorrwg are at home, while Penallta will face a hard match at Brecon and Trefil have an interesting tie at Nantyffyllon.
