The Celtic League leaders and Celtic Cup semi-finalists went through the month unbeaten – including a Celtic Cup quarter-final thriller against Leinster Lions at Ravenhill that saw them squeeze through into the last four courtesy of a 3-2 try count after extra time failed to separate the 23-23 deadlocked Irish rivals.
Kukri, the official sports and lesiure wear suppliers to Celtic Rugby, will present Ulster with £500 worth of their products.
Ulster Director of Rugby Alan Solomons said: ‘We are delighted to be named as the Celtic League team of the month.
‘We have certainly had a good run over the past few weeks, confidence within the side is high and, despite the fact that we’re missing a number of front-line players through World Cup commitments or injury, the squad has performed well. What is particularly pleasing is how our youngsters have come through. They have been given an opportunity and have seized it.
‘We’re playing with spirit and are getting fantastic support both home and away. It is nice to be top of the Celtic League but we are keeping things in perspective. We’ve a long way to go in the competition, none of the teams are at full strength yet and we’ve still got some very big matches to play.’
Phil Morris, the Kukri Managing Director, said: ‘Congratulations to Ulster – they had a fantastic month with some top quality performances and are thoroughly deserved winners.’
In addition to that Celtic Cup quarter-final win, Ulster beat Munster 16-15 at Musgrave Park; Edinburgh Rugby 41-3 at Meadowbank and notched up 26-20 and 32-7 Ravenhill victories over Celtic Warriors and Cardiff Blues respectively.
