Central Wales came to this game full of confidence and looking for their first win of the season. This team was captained by Megan Snape (Builth Wells) and as always led by example.
The teams were evenly matched and neither could penetrate the other defence and the first half ended with no score.
Central pressurised from the start of the second half with No 8 Demi Hallett (Beddau) & Lock Allesandra Rossi (Llandaff North) continued to make good ground which enabled the rest of the forwards to provide an excellent platform for the back line to work from. Jody Taylor (Llandaff North) delivered good quick ball to fly half Kirsty Lewis (Llandaff North) who varied the attack of the back line. Inside Centre & Welsh International Kelly Smith (Llandaff North) provided the strength while outside centre Levi Hallett (Beddau) offered a variety of running angles, which was, supported Wing Cassie Lyons (Llandaff North).
Amy Thompson (Beddau) won a line a line out in the North’s 22. A well-worked drive by the forwards enabled the replacement Scrum half Rachel Colley (Barry) to open the scoring with a superb try in the corner.
Central continued the attack after the restart, and forced a penalty in the North half. Taken quickly by Megan Snape developed into superb team effort, which ended with Kelly Smith crashing over for Centrals second try of the day. Full Back Sophie Wilkinson (Llandaff North) converted putting Central 12 points clear.
The Central forwards continued to pressurise the North goal line but they defended magnificently and denied Central a third score.
This was first game of Representative Rugby for Amy Walters (Beddau) & Hayley Dixon (Llandaff North) who both came on as second half replacements and adapted to playing at this higher level with ease.
