Gareth Jenkins took his troops to Franklins Gardens where they upset the home support by stealing a 18-9 victory, and snatching the last remaining quarter-final spot.

Earlier in the day the Celtic Warriors did what they could by winning 28-26 against Calvisano in Italy, but could do nothing about the fact Wasps were routing Perpignan 34-8, and collecting a bonus point to boot – the end result, the Warriors were out.

Cardiff Blues and Neath-Swansea Ospreys had the last laugh on Saturday as they finished their Heineken Cup seasons on a high.

The Blues saw off Sale Sharks 22-7 at the Arms Park, while the Ospreys broke their 10-match losing streak with a hard-fought 10-3 win over Leeds Tykes at St Helen’s.

On Friday night, The Dragons’ up-and-down season ended with a 0-22 whitewash at the hands of Ulster at Ravenhill. The Gwent region finish bottom of Pool 1, the Ospreys anchor Pool 2 and the Blues finish third in Pool 3.
