Wales Deaf Miss Out To England

Wales Deaf played their first international since winning the World
Championship in New Zealand last year, but fell to a 14-11 defeat against
England Deaf at Newbury RFC.

Wales led by 11-3 having scored a try by Nigel Francis and added two penalty
goals, but England, who had kicked an early penalty, landed two more before
gaining a winning unconverted try.

James Evans led Wales, who had gained wins in warm-up matches over
Shelbourne Pilgrims at Bath RFC by 33-19 and Pontyclun RFC by 27-21. For
England, it was only their second international, having earlier this season
lost to France by 16-3.
