Young has seen his side rise up and up the table with five straight Celtic league wins, but the 6-0 loss at the Arms Park brought that run to an end.
With the race for Heineken Cup spots well and truly under way, the form of both the Ospreys and the Blues has been turning heads as the two regions hot February’s.
Wales’ five regional outfits now dominate the top half of the table – bar pole position currently held by Ulster – but Young’s men are bottom of that heap, a situation he regards as far from finished.
“Obviously it’s a setback to lose this game but we salvaged a bonus point so we are now just behind the Ospreys in the Celtic League. But there are six matches to go for all the regions and one match is not going to decide our – or anyone else’s – fate. The situation changes week-by-week. ” he told the club’s website.
“The Warriors are also now in the equation. We have to play them and, for that matter, the Dragons. We remain focused and are in no way down-heartened after losing to the Scarlets, merely frustrated that we could have won this match four times over.”
The team with the poorest Celtic League record will not participate in the Heineken Cup next season, a fate no one wants.
With just six games left in the tri-nation tournament, there is still a lot to play for.
