Newport Saracens are making a late run in the East and they completed a double over Abergavenny, while Brynithel fell badly 16-10 at Pontypool Utd, but leaders Senghenydd gained a 38-17 win away to Newport HSOB. Best performance in that section came from Alex Davies of New Tredegar, who scored four tries, two conversions and a penalty in a 42-5 win over bottom club Llanhilleth.
In the South-East, Gilfach Goch gained an impressive 34-17 win away to improving Mountain Ash and lead the division, but Nantymoel’s try-less 9-3 win at Tylorstown means that the gap is three points and Nantymoel have a game in hand. Treherbert are also closing after edging out Rhydyfelin 19-14.
South-West leaders Banwen won in style at Seven Sisters and could afford a smile as nearest rivals Maesteg Quins crashed 20-10 at home to Bryncoch, while third-placed Mumbles gained a 15-10 win at Trebanos.
