But tension is mounting lower down the League table, with the scramble for Heineken Cup 2004 / 2005 qualification hanging in the balance for the Welsh and Scottish tail-enders. The Scarlets and The Dragons are Welsh qualifiers and Edinburgh Rugby are safe as Scotland’s No 1.
But Celtic Warriors still need two points to be home and dry, while Cardiff Blues and The Borders are each four points adrift of Neath-Swansea Ospreys and Glasgow Rugby respectively to inject genuine bite to a host of matches over the last two rounds of an absorbing campaign.
