Ceri Jones a Miss Great Britain Finalist is from Zero One and will be choreographing the girls commented, “Whether their hobbies include dancing or gymnastics, they could be the person we are looking for. Even if they do not have any experience in dance, but think that they have the confidence to do it, we would love to hear from them. This is an excellent opportunity for young girls in the area as this is a new adventure and will be an exciting experience for whoever is selected for the squad.”
Ceri is set to compete in the Model of the Universe competition in China later in the year and encourages anyone who is interested in being part of the cheerleading squad to get in contact.
Cheerleaders have become a regular feature in rugby league matches but are uncommon in rugby union. New Commercial Director at the Newport Gwent Dragons Gethin Jenkins is hoping the cheerleaders will add some glitz to rugby and is part of The Dragons overall match day plans, which includes the re-introduction of the Family Village. He commented, “Cheerleaders are a part of bringing entertainment and razzmatazz to rugby matches. We all know that the main spectacle is the rugby match but the addition of cheerleaders will bring some added entertainment.
“We want to make matches at Rodney Parade a fun experience and encourage supporters to return and support the team. Above all we want to make the matchday an experience and somewhere people will want to return to spend their leisure time. Now is an exciting time at The Dragons we have a new coach, new players and we want to build on the tremendous efforts our team laid down last year who remained undefeated in the Celtic League.”
