The Blues are winless in their last five away matches since they won 22-18 against Leinster in Dublin last March, although they did draw 9-9 at the same venue on the opening weekend of this season. Cardiff Blues have won just once in four previous visits to Scotland in Celtic League and Celtic Cup – 50-10 over today’s opponents last February.
Blues team news sees Nathan Budgett and Fereti Tuilagi included in a 22-man squad to travel to Edinburgh, in a squad that shows seven changes from last week. Tuilagi plays on the right wing in the starting line-up while Budgett is named among the replacements.
Shaun James forms a new centre partnership with Tom Shanklin while Nick Macleod and Dean Dewdney continue at half-back. New faces in the pack are Craig Quinnell, recovered from a calf injury, and Mark Lewis.
Joining Budgett among the replacements are Rhys Thomas and Matthew Nuthall, both of whom played for Cardiff in the Premier Division win over Llanharan last weekend. Dan Baugh will also travel north with the squad.
