The top match in the East was not Abertillery Park, but it still saw Machen record a historic 17-10 win with three tries coming. Nantyglo stayed unbeaten after running in eight tries to thrash Blaenavon 46-0, while St Alban’s halted Bettws at Treomrfa Park.

In the West, Pembroke smashed bottom club Llanybydder by 107-0 and are still unbeaten, yet stay on 15 points with New Dock Stars and Penygroes, though the latter lost 28-23 at Tycroes with leaders Aberaeron winning at Swansea Uplands by 29-21.

In the South-East, prop Alan Davies was the star as Porth beat off Cilfynydd 20-8 and botgh Penallta and Cefn Coed were winners, while in the South-West previously unbeaten clubs Abercrave and Crynant lost to Glyncorrwg ad Birchgrove respectively and all four clubs now have 15 points.

Bethesda’s 17-15 win over Bala in the North means that both clubs have now gained five wins from six matches, but the big shock was at Llanidloes as Bangor gained their first win of the season by an astonishing 20-15.
