The former Wales star led the castletown club to their greatest moment when they reached the Parker Pen Shield final last year in his first stint at the Virginia Park club.
But after taking over from Roger Bidgood in the summer, he has paid the price for a dreadful start to the season that has left Caerphilly bottom of the Welsh Premiership with just one win in nine games.
‘I am naturally disappointed to be leaving Caerphilly for a second time. The club has not enjoyed the best of starts to the Welsh Premier League campaign but there are many reasons behind that,’ said Ring last night. ‘I feel strongly that the coaching team had the ability to turn things around. The players had recently committed themselves to an extra session each week and the lengthy injury list looked set to clear.’
This is the fifth change in management at Virginia Park in little more than two years following the departures of the Gareth Nicholas and Simon King partnership, Terry Holmes, Ring and Bidgood.
And in a thinly disguised attack on the club, Ring reckons Caerphilly have taken the soft option.
‘As is always the case in matters like these, the people in power tend to have short memories, limited patience and a belief that change can often patch up deep seated problems at a club,’ he said. ‘I was pleased to help out once again at Virginia Park when they decided to change their coaching team after reaching the Konica Minolta Cup final last season. I am obviously less than pleased to be leaving without being given the chance to make the same impact as in my previous stint at the club.
‘I leave with no dent to the confidence in my coaching ability and I naturally wish the players at the club all the very best for the remainder of the season.’
A successor has yet to be confirmed though assistant coach Richie Collins is likely to take charge for the trip to Llandovery this Saturday.
