The 24-year-old, who had scored six tries in his previous 25 Tests, marked cap No 26 in style to become only the seventh Welsh player to score four tries in an international.

He joined the elite band of Willie Llewellyn (v England, 1899), Reggie Gibbs (v France, 1908), Maurice Richards (v England, 1967), Ieuan Evans (v Canada, RWC 1991) and Nigel Walker (v Portugal, RWC 1995 qualifier) and Gareth Thomas (v Italy 1000) as Wales ran riot.

He opened the scoring after just five minutes and had his hat-trick in the bag with 23 minutes remaining before his fourth put him into the record books.
