COCKBAIN RAISES CHARITY CASH
One-year-old Toby died in September after a lengthy battle against a brain tumour. Now father Brent and wife Kate plan to repay Latch for their support by organising a gala dinner at Swansea’s Towers Hotel on March 02 2005.
And the entire Welsh squad have already vowed to take time out from their Six Nations preparations to give the fundraising event their full backing.
“Latch made a distressing ordeal a little more barrable with their help and support – they were simply amazing,” said Brent. “They were on hand whenever we needed and enabled us spend more time with Toby during his last few days. For that we will always be grateful.”
Latch – based at Llandough Hospital in Penarth – provide training for nurses, fund research and specialist equipment as well as providing financial help to families of terminally ill children.
“It’s such a worthwhile cause that does invaluable work for so many people in Wales,” added Neath-Swansea Ospreys lock Brent. “We obviously did not need any financial help but we have spoken to other families who would have been lost without them.”
Tables of eight – to be joined by two Wales stars plus other special guests – are still available for £450. Contact Kate Cockbain on 07969 804 557 for further details.
