LLOYDS TSB LEAGUES PREVIEWS

DIVISION 1.  

Leaders Maesteg have arranged a friendly at Neath after discovering that their league match at UWIC was off when the students were forced to play their Konica Minolta Cup match at Rumney’s Riverside Park. The winners of the tie will play at Cross Keys in Round Four on January 22.
If the weather does not intervene, their could be a good open contest at the Memorial Ground in Cardiff as Glamorgan Wanderers meet a fast-improving Bonymaen side, who rarely have produced their best on this pitch.
Beddau are in a false position in the division and player-coach Brett Davey is possibly the best around at fly half this season. He will face up against a Bridgend Athletic side who may be without top scorer Stuart Morris through injury.
Llangennech and Builth Wells should be a lively encounter; Brynmawr try to halt a downhill slide at home to Carmarthen Athletic; Whitland and Fleur de Lys could be a close call, wile Narberth travel to Blackwood with their former Wales wing Richard Rees having scored 14 tries in as many games this season.

DIVISION 2.
Newport Saracens head the east and face a tough home game against Llantwit Fardre with Ystrad Rhondda three points adrift travelling to Llantrisant.
The Rumney-Treorchy game is postponed due to the former club’s cup-tie and only three points seperate seven clubs from third to ninth positions.
Waunarlwydd’s 21-8 home win over Cwmllynfell has confirmed their top spot in the West, but they face a difficult game at Kidwelly while Cwmllynfell should prove too strong at bottom club Tondu. Corus face an interesting home match against Dunvant and third-placed Banwen go to Pencoed.

DIVISION 3.
Unbeaten Bargoed hope to make it 12 straight wins in the East as they travel to Llanrumney Park to take on Old Illtydians, but if that game is rained off, second-placed Pill Harriers could make up ground at home to Dinas Powys. The Rhymney-Llanishen match should be a very close affair. Also unbeaten are Loughor in the West, but their 13th match at Pembroke Dock Quins should be a cracker, with Gorseinon waiting in the wings three points behind Loughor and with an away match at Lampeter.
Top match in the South-East will be on the splendid Mountain ash pitch, where Ruthin are an attraction and on a fine run in third place. Poised ahead of Ruthin are Mountain Ash and unbeaten Rhydyfelin – the latter due to travel to Abercwmboi.
Six clubs in the South-West are all on 21 points and of those Alltwen will take on Bryncoch, while the other four – Maesteg Quins, Vardre, Kenfig Hill and Skewen are all at home.

DIVISION 4.
Unbeaten Fairwater are now nine points ahead of Aberdare in the South-East and both clubs have home fixtures – Fairwater against Dowlais and Aerdare opposed to Llantwit Major, while third-placed Penarth are also home, against Llandaff.
Pontllanfraith are just ahead in the East with Crumlin, Trinant and Monmouth leading the chase. Three of these clubs are at home and Monmouth face the short trip to Newport HSOB.
Amman Utd have open a six-point gap in the West and while they play at Llandybie, nearest rivals Neyland face a game at pointless Gowerton.
South-Westleaders Resolven are away to Maesteg Celtic and Tonna go to Glais, though two away wins are expected.
North leaders Llangefni face a tough home match against dangerous Nant Conwy as Mold sit it out and Colwyn Bay  take the trip to Dolgellau.

DIVISION 5
East leaders Nantyglo face their sternest test of the season as they take on Abertillery BG on the beautiful Abertillery Park when a win would give Nantyglo their 13th straight win. Another unbeaten club in action will be West leaders Pembroke, who search for their 12th successive win when they visit Pembroke.
In the South-East, South Wales Police are three points in front of Cilfynydd, but the latter club, plus Porth, Penallta and Cefn Coed are all poised to catch up with the Police not having a game and the others all favourites for three-pointers. bercrave hold a five-point lead in the South-West and have a home match against Baglan, while both Crynant and Glyncorrwg have away games.
Bala entertain Bangor and hold a six-point lead in the North over Bethesda, who have a game in hand and are at home against Rhos.
