The Cardiff singer was also joined today by Keane, Liberty X, Craig David and Heather Small on the bill which will be topped by Eric Clapton.

“As soon as I heard that the concert was a possibility I was banging on the door,” said Charlotte. “The devastation is so great that I wanted to help in any way that I could.”

Charlotte, who has performed twice before at the stadium, admitted that she would be nervous appearing on the same line up as guitarist Eric Clapton.

“Eric Clapton is an absolute legend and I can’t wait to see him perform. I’ll be really nervous appearing as part of the same show,” she said. “So many of the bands are my favourites that I’ll be watching all day. The stadium is a great concert venue and the atmosphere is going to be electric.”

Charlotte has yet to decide on what she will sing. “It’s very difficult to get the balance. On such an occasion all the performers want to say something which expresses their horror at what has happened but we don’t want it to only be a day of gloom. People will still want to hear the hits and enjoy themselves.”

Paul Sergeant, the Millennium Stadium General Manager said the final details of the line up for the concert would be announced in the next few days on the event’s new website – www.millenniumstadium.com/tsunamirelief.

“So far we have seventeen acts and it promises to be a fantastic seven hours of music,” he said. And he thanked everyone who had come forward with offers of help and support.

“We have received thousands of e-mails and calls offering help. At the moment we can’t even respond to all those who have contacted us. We will get back to everyone but it will take a while.

“We have now reached saturation point and have satisfied the majority of our requirements. If we do find we need anything else we will make an appeal.”
