The Newport win on Tuesday was by 41-12 and by 7-0 on the try-count as the Black and Ambers pounded the bottom club. One night later, there were six further matches played with stunning results.

Leaders Neath fell 27-13 at Llandovery as home wing Ifan Evans heralded his return to fitness with his second successive try and 22 points came from debutant fly half Simon Daniel, who was on permit from Waunarlwydd.

Llanelli also scored points by a permit player – centre Mark Bowen from Llangennech – yet they failed badly at Cardiff by 30-15, with home fly half Chris Anderson kicking 15 points.

Cross Keys were sunk without trace at Sardis Road as Pontypridd won 41-11, scoring five tries – two by classy centre Tom Riley, though Keys centre Nathan Williams notched his 11th try.

Pontypool ran riot over Ebbw Vale as they won 37-8 with the four tries all coming from their back row, of which Dean Gibbs notched two and Sam Mills kicked 17 points, while Carmarthen Quins made a late rally to earn a 28-all draw at home to Swansea.  Down 28-16 with time running out, Quins grabbed tries by Andrew Thomas and Ricky Richards with a Craig Evans conversion.

Bedwas shattered Llanharan with a 49-13 win at the Dairy Field, in which fly half Andrew James goaled all seven tries, including his own. Craig Hill and Nathan Gittings scored a brace of tries each.
