Former Wales and Lions great Rob Howley said: “I met Ally on ‘A Question of Sport’ a while ago and he is a friend of my former Wasps team-mate, Scotland international Kenny Logan. He has a burning ambition to play a game of rugby – and to play at the Millennium Stadium. When I asked him if he would take some conversions, he asked whether I wanted him to take them with his right or left foot!

“He will be part of the Britain and Ireland team and I’m sure he will find some familiar faces in the side.

“It is fantastic that such a sporting legend has agreed to appear at our match, I know many people will want to turn out to see how he puts his footballing skills into practice on the rugby field.

“With regard to the other players in the squads, we are thrilled that we have been able to add the experience of Gareth Llewellyn, Chris Wyatt and Darren Morris to the Britain and Ireland squad while it is fabulous that the likes of Christian Califano, Gerald Merceron and Bruce Reihana have confirmed their availability for the World XV.

Tickets for the match are available at £10 and £15 for adults, half price for concessions and £19 for a family ticket for 2 adults and 2 children. Tickets are on sale via Ticketmaster on 08705 582 582 or to personal callers at the Millennium Stadium ticket shop, 98 St Mary Street, Cardiff.
