ROYAL NEWLYWEDS TO ATTEND MILLENNIUM STADIUM GRAND SLAM CELEBRATION
Their Royal Highnesses will meet the Grand Slam winning team before taking to the stage to present the RBS Six Nations Trophy to Wales captains Gareth Thomas and Michael Owen.
“We are obviously thrilled to welcome the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall to the Millennium Stadium,” said WRU chairman David Pickering. “The Prince’s good luck and congratulatory messages were gratefully received by Mike Ruddock and his team before and after their final Grand Slam decider against Ireland and the team returned the gesture with a message of their own before the Royal wedding.
“We are extremely honoured that the couple have chosen our Grand Slam celebratory event as their first official engagement in Wales since the wedding.”
Tickets sales for the Grand Slam celebration event have already broken the 10 000 barrier as fans clamour to see their Grand Slam heroes and relive some of the special moments from the RBS Six Nations matches and Millennium Stadium occasions.
“Tickets are going very well but we must remind fans to buy their tickets as soon as possible because tickets won’t be available to buy on the day of the event”, said Paul Sergeant, Millennium Stadium General Manager. “Everything is in place for this to be a fun day for all the family. It will be a great day out and while it will be excellent value for money, it is also great that we can give something back to two charities close to the hearts of rugby people – the Toby Lloyd Cockbain Foundation and the Welsh Rugby Charitable Trust.”
