LOUW FRONTS UP FOR TOUGH COMPETITION
South African Louw, 29, was lured to Llanelli by the the prospect of testing himself against the best in Europe.
“I wanted to play in the Heineken Cup as its something different to the Super 12 and the Powergen Cup will be awesome,” said Louw.
But the second row hopes that his experiences of the Super 12 in South Africa and of French rugby with both Clermont Auvergne and Montferrand will mean Scarlets fans will get the best of him.
“In the Super 12 they tend to throw the ball around and do a lot of running, whereas in France I learnt a lot about mauling and scrummaging. Hopefully I can put the two together for the Scarlets” he said.
Louw joined up with the Scarlets two weeks ago and says that Llanelli’s strength in depth will stand them in good stead for the gruelling season ahead.
“All the second rowers here are top quality players. I think to be the guy to play every game would be tough. You’ve got to play all of us – no-one can play thirty games in a row at this level”
