BLUES LOOK TO CONTINUE WINNING RUN

Williams was forced to make way for newcomer Lee Byrne in Mike Ruddock’s squad named on Tuesday for the forthcoming Autumn International Series.
But the 44-times capped flyer will lead an unchanged Cardiff side when they travel to Perpignan in the Heineken Cup this Friday. The Blues top Pool 2 following their 40-13 victory over Leeds Tykes.
“The selection is a real vote of confidence for everyone following our second-half performance against Leeds and it’s a clear intent of the way we want to play the game,” said coach David Young.
“We want to move the ball around and play an expansive game and we feel we have the mobility to do this.
“It will be a huge test up front as they will try to out muscle us but we will have to gain parity at least if we are to play the type of game we want to play.”
However Cardiff have been dealt a serious blow with the news that former All Black No8 Xavier Rush was ruled out for at least a month with a shoulder injury.
Rush only arrived at the Arms Park from Auckland last month but will go under the knife this weekend, joining British Lions Gethin Jenkins and Tom Shanklin on the sidelines.
Young said: “We thought it was only going to be out for a week because of his troublesome shoulder but it hasn’t recovered. It’s very disappointing.”
