LLANDAFF NORTH RETURN TO WINNING WAYS

Club graphic

With several new faces in the North side, North got off to a stuttering start at the set piece, some good ball was produced for the backs to which resulted in a try for Gemma Williams in her first game of the season for her club.  Fly Half, Paula Mullen converted from the touch line.

North tried to open the game up but the strong Quins forwards kept the ball tight with a series pick ups from the back of the scrum and were denied a score through an excellent tackle from Scrum half Sarah Vivian.

The half time score was 12-0 through a strong run by Abby King who was tackled on the line but managed to ground the ball.

The second half continued in the same vein as the first, with no momentum generated by either team due to a number of injuries.  The Quins backs executed some good moves to enable them to camp out on North’s try line for some time, but heroic and scrambled defence kept Quins from scoring.  Quins continued to attack and capitalised on a quick tap penalty which enabled Second Row Anwen Hopkins to cross the line.

The game finished at 17-7 to Llandaff North after centre Sophie Wilkinson created space for Abby King to out pace the cover defence and cross the line for her second score of the day.   The coaches would like to thank the players who made their debuts for Llandaff North.
