It means the Grand Slam defending U21 will meet Scotland, Italy and France on Friday nights at Rodney Parade, while the U19, recent conquerors of the Australian Schools, will tangle with the same three countries the previous nights at the Talbot Athletic ground.
“We feel it will be a real bonus for our international age grade sides to play at one venue throughout their championships and we hope it will give them a real home advantage,” said WRU High Performance Manager Mostyn Richards. “Wales will be looking for a second Grand Slam on the trot at U21 level and, with the majority of the U21 players plying their trade in either the Principality Premiership or the Regional sides, there is real quality at that level.
“The U19 side have showed a lot of potential, particularly in their win over Australia Schools earlier this month. They have already put in almost five months preparation and will provide fierce competition for all their opponents this season.”
All five of the Wales U21 matches will be televised live for the first time this season – four of them on BBC Wales and one on Sky. Wales open the defence of their title against England at Worcester on Friday, 3 February in a game that kicks-off at 8.00pm and which will be shown live on Sky.
The first game at Rodney Parade will be on Friday, 10 February, when Scotland are the visitors (7.10pm kick-off), the first of four matches to be televised live by BBC Wales. Round 3 of the U21 Six Nations Championship will see the Welsh side travel to Ireland to play their hosts at Athlone (7.10pm kick-off).
That game will also be shown on BBC Wales, as will the two other home matches, which follow at Rodney Parade on Friday, 10 March against Italy and Friday, 17 March against France. Once again, both games will kick-off at 7.10pm.
Wales U19 will start their championship against England at the home of NEC Harlequins, The Stoop Memorial Ground, on Friday 3 February (7.00 kick-off). Their three home games at the Talbot Athletic Ground are against Scotland (Thursday, 9 February), Italy (Thursday, 9 March) and France (Thursday, 16 March) and all matches will kick-off at 7.00pm. Tickets for the U19 games at Aberavon will cost £5 for adults, £3 for senior citizens and Under 16s and Under 11s will go free. The game against the Ireland Under 19s will take place in Dublin on Saturday, 25 February at Blackrock (1.00 pm kick-off).
A special Wales U21 season ticket is on offer for the matches at Rodney Parade which allows entry to all three games. These packages are superb value offering a 25% saving on the match-by-match cost and will be available until close of business on Thursday, 9 February.
