MANIC STREET PREACHERS SIGN UP FOR ONE EARTH CONCERT

They’re joining The Strokes, The Darkness, and Super Furry Animals who will top the bill at 2006’s gig of the year, all to support responsible living and promote awareness of climate change. The Millennium Stadium will host the much anticipated ONE EARTH concert whose line-up is expected to grow even further.

Why? To engage the public in positive action to tackle climate change, and to encourage one million Europeans to switch to renewable energy sources this year.

The concert, hosted on 28th January 2006 in Cardiff, will be broadcast to millions world wide and hopes to kick-start positive public action towards climate change – starting with the simple step of switching to renewable energy. This should cut carbon dioxide emissions from household energy by 2 million tonnes, enough to fill over 340 million cars.

“We have made a recent New Years Resolution to use re-newable energy by 2009 and this concert is a fantastic opportunity to start the ball rolling.
“The Manics are idolised worldwide but not more so than in their home country, they’ve played here a number of times and I’m sure the Welsh public will be delighted on their return” said Paul Sergeant, Millennium Stadium chief executive.

“People are genuinely concerned about the effects of climate change, but don’t know how easy it is to make a big difference.  The concert will focus attention on the part we can all play in tackling climate change” Said Michael Mathres, co-founder of Climate Change Now.

By logging on to www.ClimateChangeNow.com  and switching to renewable energy people can reduce their CO2 emissions from household energy by a third or more. It is FREE to make the switch and only takes 5 minutes.

More details of the line-up for One Earth Concert will be announced shortly as further globally recognised artists join the campaign to make a positive difference.

Tickets for the concert are £40, which will be broadcast in the UK by the BBC, are available from www.oneearthconcert.com and Ticketmaster www.ticketmaster.co.uk / 08705 582 582 All proceeds go to the charitable organisation ONE EARTH TRUST.
