SOWDON-TAYLOR CALLED INTO SEVENS SQUAD

He will join the squad attempting to strike gold in Melbourne following the forced withdrawl of Lee Beach with a foot injury. Sowden-Taylor, 23, is a full Welsh International and has been capped three times and has scored 20 points for the Blues so far this season. He replaces Beech – who shows his 15 man skills with Ospreys – has has suffered a stress fracture in his foot.

Team Wales Director of Operations and former Wales international, David Evans, said: “Robin has demonstrated his extraordinary talent during his rugby career to date and Robin will be a real asset to the sevens team when it takes to the field next month.

“We are disappointed to lose Lee from the Team Wales line-up for the Melbourne games but we wish him a speedy recovery and best wishes for the remainder of his season with the Opsreys.”

Wales Sevens will face a tough challenge in the two-day tournament at Melbourne’s Telstra Dome on March 16 and 17. They are to take on defending Commonwealth Champions and six-time IRB World Sevens winners New Zealand, Kenya and Namibia in Pool A.
