TYLORSTOWN 28 BLAENAU GWENT 5
Tylorstown were without some of their regular players and struggled to find form at the start. The Blaenau pack were in control of set pieces and it was some time before Tyly settled. Tylorstown scored first from a Non Evans try which she converted. Jamie Kift added a further try in the first half – again Non converting.
The second half continued in the same pattern with Blaenau’s forwards in control but Tyly’s backs having the upper hand in open play. Further tries were added by Rhian Adams and Non Evans, Non again converting both.
Blaenau were rewarded for their constant forward pressure by a try late on in the second half, scored from a driving maul after sustained pressure on the Tyly line.
Rhian Adams had a magnificent game for Tylorstown in both attack and defence with Jayne Edwards being the pick of the Tyly forwards. In her unaccustomed position of blindside flanker Jayne made a real impact on the game. She made a number of breaks surging over the gain line like a galloping horse.
It was fair to say that Tylorstown won this game from their solid defensive platform. The game would have been very different if it wasn’t for try saving tackles from Wendy Gibbins and Rhian Adams. Games like this decide final positions in the league. At the half way point of the season Tylorstown are still sitting proud at the top of the league.
