Second-rower Ben Davies scored a double, with powerful centre Josh Taumalolo continuing his good form with a first-half try. Ebbw Vale outside-half Owain Biddiscombe kicked his side’s only points as they flirt with relegation from the top flight.
Another side at the wrong end of the table are Llandovery, and their cause wasn’t helped by a 19-9 loss at Rodney Parade. Newport fly-half Daniel Griffiths kicked five goals to complement second-rower Neil Watkins’s try, with Drovers’ goal-kicker Tomos Marks keeping the visitors in touch with three penalty goals.
Fourth-placed Aberavon ran in four tries in the first half of their match against Pontypool, before easing up to record a 27-11 win that moves them up to second in the standings. Winger Daran Griffiths scored a try in each half and captain Chris Gittins also got on to the scoreboard for the Wizards, who were helped by a second-half yellow card to Pooler skipper Gavin Lucas. Flanker Gavin Donaldson scored the visitors’ only try.
