BLUES HEAD TO EDINBURGH

BLUES HEAD TO EDINBURGH

Edinburgh will be gunning for a win to keep up their challenge on the top places in the Celtic League table, although the Gunners have won just one of their last four matches in the competition. Edinburgh’s 23-31 home loss to Ulster on 17 February ended a run of six successive home games at Murrayfield where the loser gained a losing bonus point (the Gunners winning four of those matches).

The Blues have won back to back games in the Celtic League with comprehensive wins at the Arms Park against the Ospreys (40-14) and Glasgow (31-3), however away from home Cardiff have not won since beating the Osrpeys at Liberty Stadium on 22 December. The Blues have won just once in Scotland in the past two seasons: 28-23 against Glasgow at Hughenden in September.

Edinburgh have won the last three matches they have played against the Blues including a 13-9 victory at the Arms Park in the Celtic League on 27 January. The Blues having won back to back games in the Celtic League with comprehensive wins at the Arms Park against the Ospreys (40-14) and Glasgow (31-3) will try to build on these wins when they face Edinburgh in the Celtic League this Friday.

Director of Coaching David Young said: “Obviously we are delighted with our last two results gaining maximum points at the Arms Park, but we know Edinburgh will be a tough match up in Scotland. We narrowly lost to them in January so will be hoping to reverse that result on Friday.

“Craig Quinnell and James Goode have both suffered injuries while Deiniol Jones is unavailable, so we have had to draft in Chris Dicomidis from Pontypridd as cover on the bench.”
